January 22, 2013 I took Kylie to have her braces removed. I couldn't believe how different she looked. She looks older and even more beautiful if that is possible. You be the judge and look at the pictures, it is something else.
This picture was taken the day she had her braces put on, September 26, 2011.
This was her last day of braces, January 22, 2013.
This is our new beautiful Kylie without braces, January 22, 2013. Hallelujah!
We had an awesome Christmas. The kids go way too much but they are such good kids and we had a great day together. I guess the highlight of the day for Mary was getting a signed book by her favorite author. We had a wonderful meal and then we played with the wii we bought for the kids. That was fun we made fools of ourselves. Good exercise after a big meal.
I made our date with Leah and she said she wanted to go to Toys R Us also to shop for her present. The difference between Leah and Dylan was that price didn't have any affect on Dylan, he just went for what he wanted. Leah being older and knowing if it costs too much she would get fewer presents. Leah liked volume of presents. She would ask how much everything cost and then would rack her brain on whether she wanted to get it or not. Finally, I said Leah, just put everything you want into the cart and then we will decide at the end what you can get. Well, we did that and I think she got about 8 presents, she is a very good shopper. She got everthing she wanted. Then Leah and I went to a Chinese buffet for lunch. We had such a good time. I cherish my individual time with each of my prescious grandchildren, each one is so unique and special. Leah is such a thinker. She is a really good listener and takes everything to heart. Love that girl.

Our Dylan boy turned 6 November 30, 2012. I started a new tradition with Kylie and enjoyed it so much I decided to do it with all the kids. I make a date with them to go buy their presents with them and then go to lunch. I don't usually get one on one time with them so it is a real treat for me and hopefully with them too. Dylan wanted to go to Toys R Us so I picked him up one Saturday and we went shopping. He had so much fun dashing up and down all the aisles. He finally decided on several toys which I then purchased and told him he could not have them until his birthday. He asked if he could hold them in the car which I let him do and while we were driving he is telling me that we should open all the toys and make sure they work. I told him I would do that at home. Giving up on the idea that I would let him be a part of that we made our way to Culvers for a great lunch. We had a great time together. On his birthday, he had a swim party at the Arnold Rec Center with his school friends and cousins and then back to his house for a cookie cake with his Aunts, Uncles and cousins. It was awesome.
On September 13, 2012 when I picked up Charlie from preschool at Abiding Savior, Mrs. Trah said Charlie needs to put on his listening ears. I asked Charlie on the way home how come he didn't have his listening ears on, he proceeded to tell me that the switch to turn them on are behind his ears and he can't turn them on. I almost burst a blood vessel trying to stop my laughing. I told his mom the story later so, Mary later that day asked him about it and he said grandma didn't turn on his listening ears. So now we know it is all my fault. Of course it is.

Our Kylie turned 9 on August 14th the day before she started 3rd grade. This birthday she wanted cowboy boots. When we took her and Leah to Tennessee in June she saw everyone wearing cowboy boots and really loved seeing all the different kind of boots there were, so she didn't forget that and asked for them for her birthday. So the week before her birthday, I took her to Chuck's boots. She was so excited and said she was in cowboy boot heaven. She had her choice down to 2 boots. See below. The brown boots won out. This was so much fun, I decided that this would be a tradition on taking the kids to pick out their birthday presents. Kylie is such an awesome young lady. She wants to please everyone so much and take care of them. She really watches over her little brother. Kylie was our first born Granddaughter and showed us how much love we have and can give to our grandchildren. Like the poster says that I just seen recently saw, "The most precious jewels you will have around your neck are the arms of your grandchildren."

These funnies were passed to me from Mary (Sissy's Mom), Mary was spending the whole day with Sissy since Brian took off and went camping with Leah and Charlie on August 8, 2012 a Wednesday and then Mary and Sissy were going to join Brian the next day for a float trip. So the first thing that happened was Mary took Sissy for a mani/pedi, Sissy's first. One thing you need to know about Sissy is that she speaks Japanese, that is what she tells all us, so with that knowledge, most of the salons around here are owned by Asian people who regularly speak a foreign language in front of their clients. While Sissy was being taken care of Mary said she would just stare at these people speaking this foreign language and when there was a break in the action, she turns to Mary and says....."Mom should I speak Japanese to these people??????" Mary told her "No, that is ok". Mary then asked Sissy, "Do you know what they are saying?" Sissy says "Yes, they are talking about how pretty I am". Mary just laughed to herself.
After the mani/pedi Mary stopped at Steak and Shake and took food home for them to eat and Mary had to take a shower before going to her book club that evening. As Mary parked the car and they were walking up to the door, Sissy asked Mary "Can you bring food to your book club?" Mary said "You could but usually the person hosting the book club has food for everyone." Sissy says "Oh, good because I am pretty sure I have a french fry in my underwear". I was rolling when Mary told me this and you have to know Sissy, I can just see her seriously walking up the walk and saying this with just a deadpan face, like I think it is going to rain, no big deal. She just didn't want to get in trouble for bringing food into their house if she wasn't supposed too. My Sissy girl is a hoot. Love her to death.
