Our Awesome Destin Vacation

Our Charlie man turns 5

I was asking Charlie where he would like to shop for his birthday present.  He immediately replied that Schnucks has toys, I started laughing and said well, I was thinking more like Toys R Us and he told me that is where he wanted to go.  I also asked him where he wanted to go to lunch, he said the place with the diamond on the outside of the building, I looked confused at him and we were all trying to figure out where he was talking about and Brian came up with it.  He was talking about Sam's Club.  I have taken him there a lot when I need to shop and then I can buy him a hot dog and soda for $1.50.  The kids love Sam's hot dogs, they are kosher hot dogs.  I used to buy a $.99 pack of hot dogs but noooooooo our kids love the expensive kosher hot dogs.  So anyway I laughed at that too wanting to go to Sams for lunch.  I said we could go anywhere he wanted, so he starts off wanting to go to Sams, then Steak and Shake, then Dairy Queen and then he finally settled on Applebee's.  We had our date on 7-5-2013.  Charlie wanted to shop for his present before we went to Florida.

On 7-17-2013 our little Charlie man turned 5 in Destin, Florida.  His mom and dad brought decorations to decorate the home we were renting.  Charlie wanted to spend the day at the beach and at the pool and then went to the movies.  I think he had a great day.  We all brought our presents to Florida.  We had a great time.  Here are some of the pics on Charlie's day.

Our Sissy on voting for the new Pope

Another funny from our Sissy girl,  Mary was talking to Sissy and Leah about getting a new Pope.  Sissy asks if kids can vote for the new Pope.  No, Mary says, the Cardinals vote for the new Pope.  Sissy then asks "Do other teams get to vote too?"  She cracks us up!  The innocence of children.

Kylie choked on popcorn chicken

On February 27, 2013 Kylie was at school in the 3rd grade at Fox Elementary eating lunch when she choked on her popcorn chicken, while her friends raised their hands to get help because they could see Kylie was in trouble, her other friend Hannah went into action and performed the Heimlich on Kylie.  Immediately, Kylie spit out the popcorn chicken.  Hannah is our hero.  A local station did a piece on what had happened.  We are eternally grateful for Hannah.

Our Sissy Girl turns 6

Our beautiful Sissy girl turns 6 on 2-13-2013, the day before Valentines Day and she is our heart.  Sissy gives the best hugs in the world.  She always runs to me when she sees me and her arms are always out to give me the best hug in the world.  Sissy and I had our special day last Saturday on the 9th.  I picked her up at 7:30am to go out for breakfast and then the toy store.  We ate at Ihop and played rock, paper, scissors while we waited for our food and then she told me of another game she made up, it was called rock, paper, scissors, anything.  You had a spider and a unicorn in the game also, unicorn beat everything.  That was an interesting game to play.  After we had breakfast we went to Target to look at their toys and she found a lot of things she wanted but she wanted to see what Toys R Us had, so then we went to Toys R Us.  She found 3 baby dolls she wanted, so we bought them, a stroller, and foam, I think that was all, oh, at the checkout she found some dollar toys too.  After that I delivered her to Happy Joe's pizza for a birthday party for Gretchen, her school friend.  We had a great day together.  I cherish the times with my grandchildren, they are the best.

Kylie without BRACES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

January 22, 2013 I took Kylie to have her braces removed.  I couldn't believe how different she looked.  She looks older and even more beautiful if that is possible.  You be the judge and look at the pictures, it is something else.
This picture was taken the day she had her braces put on, September 26, 2011.
This was her last day of braces, January 22, 2013.
This is our new beautiful Kylie without braces, January 22, 2013.  Hallelujah!

Another Great Christmas

We had an awesome Christmas.  The kids go way too much but they are such good kids and we had a great day together.  I guess the highlight of the day for Mary was getting a signed book by her favorite author.  We had a wonderful meal and then we played with the wii we bought for the kids.  That was fun we made fools of ourselves.  Good exercise after a big meal.

Leah turns 9

I made our date with Leah and she said she wanted to go to Toys R Us also to shop for her present.  The difference between Leah and Dylan was that price didn't have any affect on Dylan, he just went for what he wanted.  Leah being older and knowing if it costs too much she would get fewer presents.  Leah liked volume of presents.  She would ask how much everything cost and then would rack her brain on whether she wanted to get it or not.  Finally, I said Leah, just put everything you want into the cart and then we will decide at the end what you can get.  Well, we did that and I think she got about 8 presents, she is a very good shopper.  She got everthing she wanted.  Then Leah and I went to a Chinese buffet for lunch.  We had such a good time.  I cherish my individual time with each of my prescious grandchildren, each one is so unique and special.  Leah is such a thinker.  She is a really good listener and takes everything to heart.  Love that girl.

Dylan turns 6

Our Dylan boy turned 6 November 30, 2012.  I started a new tradition with Kylie and enjoyed it so much I decided to do it with all the kids.  I make a date with them to go buy their presents with them and then go to lunch.  I don't usually get one on one time with them so it is a real treat for me and hopefully with them too.  Dylan wanted to go to Toys R Us so I picked him up one Saturday and we went shopping.  He had so much fun dashing up and down all the aisles.  He finally decided on several toys which I then purchased and told him he could not have them until his birthday.  He asked if he could hold them in the car which I let him do and while we were driving he is telling me that we should open all the toys and make sure they work.  I told him I would do that at home.  Giving up on the idea that I would let him be a part of that we made our way to Culvers for a great lunch.  We had a great time together.  On his birthday, he had a swim party at the Arnold Rec Center with his school friends and cousins and then back to his house for a cookie cake with his Aunts, Uncles and cousins.  It was awesome.

Charlie with his listening ears

On September 13, 2012 when I picked up Charlie from preschool at Abiding Savior, Mrs. Trah said Charlie needs to put on his listening ears.  I asked Charlie on the way home how come he didn't have his listening ears on, he proceeded to tell me that the switch to turn them on are behind his ears and he can't turn them on.  I almost burst a blood vessel trying to stop my laughing.  I told his mom the story later so, Mary later that day asked him about it and he said grandma didn't turn on his listening ears.  So now we know it is all my fault.  Of course it is.
