Our visit to the Washington Town and Country Fair with Leah, Sissy and Charlie

Since our Hannibal trip was so successful we decided to take another short trip with Leah, Sissy and Charlie and found the Washington Town and Country Fair was opening August 6th.  So Wednesday morning around 8:30am we picked up the kids and headed to Washington.  We arrived around 9:30 at the Best Western Plus of Washington and checked in.  Shortly after we unloaded the car, and then we made our way to the fair.  The kids have never been to a Country fair, so this was going to be an experience.
We went on rides, pet some animals and played in bins of corn, soybeans and wheat.  Also, they got to sit in tractors.

Then we went back to our hotel to swim a little bit.
After we refreshed ourselves we went back to the fair to ride some more rides, see more animals and taste test fried food.  Mary had told Leah fairs always have unique fried foods.  So we found fried Oreos, so that is what Leah went for while Sissy and Charlie stayed with a fair favorite, funnel cakes.  Then while our tummy's were full we went and saw the bull riders.  That was really exciting.

Trip to Hannibal with Kylie and Dylan

We planned a trip to Hannibal, Mo., with Kylie and Dylan.  We left on Monday, July 28th and returned on Wednesday, July 30th.  We arrived around 11am and went right to Tom Sawyers fence and the kids started pretending to whitewash it.

Next, we took a trolley ride all around Hannibal.

After that we visited Tom Sawyer, Becky Thatcher and Huckleberry Finn's homes and also the Tom Sawyer museum.
Then we checked into the Best Western Plus on the river and went swimming.
The next morning we went to tour the Mark Twain Cave.

After the cave we took a ride on the Tom Sawyer Riverboat
After the riverboat ride we visited lovers leap.

The next morning on Wednesday July 30th we made our way home.

We had a great time with Kylie and Dylan and want to plan more short trips.  We are so blessed to have such wonderful Grandkids.  We love them bunches.

Our Charlie boy turns 6

This is July 17, 2014, Charlie and I went birthday shopping and then went to Steak and Shake for lunch.  It is our tradition, that Grandma takes the birthday grandchild to buy their gift and then out to lunch, just the two of us.  Usually, we do it before the birthday but in this case, Brian and Mary had the opportunity to chaperone some high school students to Washington, D.C. so we got to have Charlie and his sisters spend the night on his birthday.  After we had lunch we went home to get ready for his birthday party with his GiGi and Pop and Aunt Hannah, Aunt Mo, Uncle Mark and Blake and Matthew.  We had a great time.  Here are some pics from his day.  I love this little man so much.
